Y. E. Prazdnikov Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry of Highly Ordered Carbyne

ABSTRACT Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectrometry was applied to a non-conventional object—highly ordered carbyne films. Mass spectra of both positive and negative ions were recorded in all tests. The spectra had a rather high number of hydrogen atom peaks and specific features indicative of hydrogen acting as a requisite stabilizer in the crystalline carbyne structure.
